How to do a vintage faux bob on long hair

Back to 2023 when I still had waist length hair, I wanted to wear my hair in vintage styles without having to having to have it cut.
Back in the 1920s and 30s when bobbed and short hair became fashionable, a number of women with long hair didn't want to chop off their locks, and there were several articles from the time showing women how to achieve a bob hair style without the need for scissors.
Below is a step by step of how I did a vintage faux bob style on my long hair.

Equipment you will need:
Brush
Tail comb
Hair grips
Curling tongs/iron or wand
Serum (optional)
Hairspray
How to do a vintage faux bob

Using the end of a tail comb, make a horizontal parting from ear to ear. You will then have two sections of hair, top and bottom.
Clip the top section out the way. Braid/plait the bottom section. Wrap this flat against your scalp and pin into place. This will be the base/foundation for your bob.
Using curling tongs, iron or wand, curl small sections of hair on the top. I would suggest wrapping these up into pin curls and pinning them on to your head and allow them to cool.

When cool, remove the pins and gently brush out the curls to create waves. In case of frizz, apply a little serum.
Grabbing the ends of the top section, loosely roll up the hair underneath itself, until it gets to the desired length of your 'bob' and covers up the bottom section from view.
Using the hair grips, pin the hair from underneath, securing it on to the braid base.

Secure and pin any little stray aways and spray with hair spray to set.
Voila, your faux bob is now complete. You can accessorise this look with sparkly or feather headbands for a 1920s flapper look or for a Great Gatsby theme party, or with a headscarf for an elegant casual look.
